Unit 5 : Opinion Essays

Title : Technology has changed the world.

Many new mass transit systems are currently available for use in the industrial 4.0/5.0 generation of technology; some of these systems are far too costly to list. In particular, rapidly moving transportation like high-speed train. The first high-speed train was originated came from Japan, the Shinkansan, which connected Tokyo and Osaka ahead of the Summer Olympics in 1964. The Shinkansen was instantly dubbed it as the “bullet train” due to its tremendous speed and aerodynamic bullet-shaped nose. It also met with a significant recognition from international acclaim.

High-speed train can offers multiple advantages to people in such many different ways. First of all, building a high-speed train will create hundreds of jobs for the people. According to the research, every investment related to the rail high-way can create 24,000 jobs in each extend. It's a project that require a lot of labor to be involved. Second, while there is still some controversy over which form of transportation is more fuel efficient, trains or cars, the amount of smog and pollution released into the city is much less with a high speed train than the number of cars necessary to transport the same amount of people. Furthermore, high-speed train can save time and space, For instance, less cars in the city center can also create more space for people who enjoy or prefer to walk to work or study. And for trip or travel, high speed trains can get you from one downtown to another downtown in about the same amount of time by flight, also at a much lower cost too. In addition, a high-speed train network carrying electric trains could be powered by renewable energy sources, reducing the need for foreign oil, pollution and easing congestion. Lastly for the main advantage of using high-speed train; is it much safer than driving cars as it's reportedly that thousands of people die each year in cars or motor accidents; however, trains are one of the safest form of transportation people currently have.

Despite their many benefits, high-speed train also have negative environmental effects. One major concern is brought up and is related to the increasing in noise and vibration through the destination, which can negatively affect the quality of life of people there, and affect the wildlife and nature. Additionally, the construction of high-speed train is highly need energy-intensive and may not result in energy savings instead it can cause a risk to the climate or atmosphere. Another problem is the investment requires for constructing tracks, stations, and specialized trains can be substantial. This cost can become a significant barrier to high-speed train projects. And in order to ensuring the safety and reliability of the trains, they must providing staffing and services that can be very costly to be measured. And the most important topic regarding to this new invention, the safety concerns of people, high-speed train systems must strictly provide the high-safety standards to protect passengers and workers. Train accidents can have a serious consequences if the accident ever occurred. In spite of these disadvantages, many countries still continue to invest in high-speed train as a sustainable and efficient mode of transportation. Efforts to address these challenges, such as enhancing connectivity, protecting environmental impacts, and many significant useful advantages to people and the economic.

In my opinion, I need people to realize that a new modern technology can be very helpful in many circumstances, at the same time we also need to take care and try to protect the environmental and the negative side effects of using it. Everything has came with a pro and con, it's only depend on how we decide to use it. If we use it in a good ways, the outcome will be great to use and serve to people; but if we use it in a wrong way, many risky situations will occur in the future.

  1. Well-done. It is an interesting essay with good introduction, main body paragraphs, and conclusion. I am amazed with the advantages of high-speed trains, but I also feel a bit disappointed with the negative impacts of it on environment.
